Currently residing in Fredericksburg, VA, this 25 year old Washington D.C. born-Maryland raised emcee/producer/engineer has been traveling an ongoing quest in his music for over 10 years now. From founding the hardcore hip-hop group Rigamortiz with his partner Epidemik in 1998, to spending years recording demos and honing his craft, it seems preparation and the love for the music have been the fuel for his motivation.
As a self proclaimed “New School Throwback”, T.E.F.L.O.N.’s music gives you the nostalgia of the mid 1990’s “golden era” of hip-hop that so many of us miss, yet he brings a recharged, current voice and alternative to an age where the majority of hip-hop music lacks substance and lyrical ability. Known well for his high energy live shows, you can catch T.E.F.L.O.N. performing at select spots on the east coast causing crowds to reminisce to the days of when emcee’s had to show and prove and put on a good show with just one microphone and a DJ. He has been the opening support for numerous national acts and even participated in the Vans Warped Tour 2008.
In 2001, T.E.F.L.O.N. formed his company 27 Deep Productions based on his crew of friends and artists of many different genres and cultures. It gave him an opportunity to tap into the musical side of hip-hop on the production boards, educate himself on the in and out’s of the music business, and learn how to operate independently. 27 Deep Productions is also the home to all of T.E.F.L.O.N.’s projects, Epidemik, Rigamortz, and neo-soul artist Mina.
While even experiencing some of the negative stereotypes and flaws of the music industry first hand, it has taught him that patience is a virtue, and that quality and execution is of the upmost importance. In a virtually untapped market for hip-hop in the Washington D.C. area (commonly referred to as the DMV) it is still overflowing with aspiring rappers and producers Tef strives to seperate himself and his brand from the rest of the pack in the area.
Today, in 2009 T.E.F.L.O.N. has aligned forces with one of D.C.'s leading independent labels, Inner Loop Records to work on his debut LP due out sometime in 2010 and provide production as well to all the artists on the ILR roster. He also continues to manage and engineer at Fredericksburg, VA's premiere recording studio, Linear Sound on a daily basis.
* In 2007, T.E.F.L.O.N. teamed up with DJ Rerok (Bash Bros., The Ranjahz) to put together a classic DMV mixtape titled "The Pre-Conception". Even today it is still receiving a heavy push and a growing buzz in the D.C. area.
* T.E.F.L.O.N. is also the executive producer for the Epidemik street album "Nature of the Beast" that was released late 2008 with Hot 97's own Peter Rosenberg.
